| It is estimated that
less than two percent of the pearls
created by the South Seas black pearl
oyster will be perfectly round with
good surface. These are the most
highly prized pearls. Pear shaped
or drop pearls with even form can
also bring a great price as they
make beautiful earrings and pendants.
Some of the other organic shapes
which the oyster produces, such as
button, baroque and circled pearls
are graded for their uniqueness and
make attractive bracelets and necklaces.
Mabe pearls are pearls that form
flat against the inner surface of
the oyster, and used in earrings,
pendants and mens jewelry, such as
tuxedo sets, rings and tie tacks.
